Online Tour: West Parlor

West Parlor, or Webb-Iddings Parlor The West Parlor, also known as the Webb-Iddings Parlor, is part of the Edwards house added to the original dwelling in 1809. The parlor was recently redocorated with new paint, wallpaper, curtains and carpet. Funds were donated by the children of Thetis Sparks, charter member of the Society.
The oil portrait over the mantel is of Laura Webb Iddings, daughter of Thomas Denny Webb, the second owner of the house. Webb was a lawyer and publisher of the first newspaper in the Western Reserve, The Trump of Fame. The spinet piano (right background) dates to 1840. The two chairs (foreground) came to Warren from Pittsburgh by way of canal boat in 1892.

The settee (right) was made by Charles White, a cousin of Thomas Denny Webb and a noted cabinetmaker in Warren. The settee was originally upholstered in black horsehair. Settee in West Parlor, made by Charles White.
